On a sunny summer afternoon in Reno, the grand reveal of Mayberry Gardens was made even more memorable with a special visit from the City of Reno’s Vice Mayor, Kathleen Taylor. Representing Mayor Hillary Schieve, Vice Mayor Taylor delivered a proclamation officially declaring July 17th as Mayberry Gardens Day—a tribute to the site’s rich history and its exciting new chapter.
Mayberry Gardens, once a historic homestead, has been thoughtfully reimagined into a vibrant business park by the Stitser’s and Stahl’s—distant descendants of George Washington Andrews, founder of the original homestead. This redevelopment honors the property’s deep agricultural roots while creating new space for local entrepreneurs, creatives, and community members to gather and grow.
The City of Reno’s proclamation recognizes Mayberry Gardens for its role in shaping the cultural and scenic landscape of the region, while serving as a gateway between Reno’s historic past and its evolving future. Nestled beside the 30-acre Betsy Caughlin Donnelly Park and the Caughlin Ranch neighborhood, the property is uniquely positioned to remain both a place of reflection and renewal.
The July 17th, 2025 event marked the first of what is now an annual celebration. Guests enjoyed local exhibits, food and drinks, music, and a look into the story behind Mayberry Gardens' transformation.
As Vice Mayor Taylor concluded her remarks and delivered the proclamation, a sense of gratitude and momentum filled the air—proof that honoring the past can beautifully shape the future.
We look forward to celebrating Mayberry Gardens Day with our community for years to come.
